Snack Town RunFest 2026
SA OKT 3
Snack Town RunFest takes place in Hanover, Pennsylvania, offering several distances rather than a single main event. The available races include a chip-timed half marathon, 10K, and 5K, along with a 5K Corporate Challenge and a Kids Fun Run for participants aged 4 to 12. The event occurs in early October, organized by the Hanover Area YMCA and supported by partners Utz Brands, Inc. and WellSpan Health. The half marathon covers approximately 13.11 miles on a single-loop course, and the 5K is about 3.11 miles, also on a single loop. This format attracts a variety of participants: half marathoners, shorter-distance runners, corporate teams, families, and children who can race themselves instead of just observing. A local tradition is the Beer Bash on George, featuring craft breweries as part of the post-race activities.
Cumberland Valley TrailFest
The Raven
SO OKT 4
The Raven is an autumn trail race in the Seven Mountains area of Bald Eagle State Forest, Pennsylvania, offering 10K and half marathon courses through Poe Valley. The 10K covers approximately 6.4 miles with about 1,500 feet of elevation gain, and the half marathon spans roughly 13.6 miles with around 2,900 feet of gain. This is a challenging trail event, distinct from a road race with some unpaved sections. The course features remote singletrack, passable doubletrack, steep ascents, rocky climbs, stream crossings, scenic overlooks, and extended quiet forest sections. It is designed for experienced trail runners, though well-prepared hikers are welcome if they understand the terrain. Aid stations are provided for both distances, with one on the 10K at Mountain Church and three along the half marathon route. The Edgar Allan Poe theme is present in the race name, the Raven finisher awards, the dark-pine Poe Valley environment, and a post-race gathering for sharing experiences or reciting poetry. Following the race, participants receive kettle-served ham and bean soup, with a vegetarian alternative available. The event contributes to scholarships, local trail maintenance, and community initiatives.
Haunted 5K, 10K, 13.1M at York, PA (41)
SA OKT 10
The Haunted 5K, 10K, and 13.1M in York, Pennsylvania, utilizes repeated short out-and-back segments originating from 1060 Church Road. The distance is determined by the number of repetitions. This event is a Halloween-themed US Road Running race suitable for runners and walkers, offering 5K, 10K, and half marathon distances that commence in the morning. The 5K course involves two out-and-back repetitions, the 10K requires four, and the half marathon uses an extended out-and-back section repeated six times. The race has a time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes. Participants must register in advance via RunSignup. Consistent with the US Road Running format, the event includes themed race logos, finisher medals, awards, series points, and a best costume contest.
Buffalo Creek Half Marathon
SA OKT 17
The Buffalo Creek Half Marathon is a point-to-point trail race held annually on the third Saturday of October in southeast Butler County, Pennsylvania. It begins in Cabot and proceeds along a long, gradual downhill path toward Freeport, primarily on the crushed limestone of the Butler-Freeport Community Trail. The event typically attracts several hundred participants, and its consistent net elevation loss makes it a suitable choice for runners aiming for a quick half marathon or a personal record. The route incorporates paved roads for the initial 1.5 miles and the final 0.5 miles, with the intervening sections on a rails-to-trails path constructed on the former Western Pennsylvania Railroad bed. Participants conclude the race at the trail's southern terminus, near former Butler Junction, beneath the Highway 356 bridge spanning the Allegheny River. This event serves as the primary fundraiser for the Butler Freeport Community Trail Council, an entirely volunteer-run nonprofit organization responsible for the upkeep of the approximately 15-mile trail system located within an hour's drive of Pittsburgh.
Fleet Feet Half Marathon
SO OKT 18
The Fleet Feet Half Marathon is a fall half marathon held at John Rudy Park in York, Pennsylvania. The race begins at 8:00 a.m., sponsored by HOKA, and offers participants three and a half hours to complete the 13.1-mile course. The course begins and ends within the park, utilizing the York Heritage Rail Trail for the majority of the run. Following the race, participants can find refreshments at the Eastern Hemlock pavilion, where awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in age categories ranging from 19 and under to 80 and over. Every finisher will receive a custom shirt and medal. Additionally, Fleet Feet provides a training program with weekday sessions in Mechanicsburg and Saturday runs originating from City Island.
End of the Road Half Marathon & One Tunnel 4 Miler
SA OKT 24
At End of the Road in Waterfall, Pennsylvania, runners use the abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike instead of a typical road course. The series takes place in October and includes a Half Marathon and a One Tunnel 4 Miler, with a two-day challenge for those racing both events. The appeal is straightforward and unusual: extended sections of vacant highway, dark turnpike tunnels, and autumn foliage on the ridges surrounding the old road. The half marathon covers approximately five miles within Sidling Hill and Ray's Hill Tunnels, two lengthy tunnels where participants use headlamps and glow sticks because of the absence of artificial lighting. Beyond the tunnels, the course follows quiet, old pavement and undulating rural roads on a highway bypassed decades ago and left without vehicle traffic for almost fifty years. The 4 Miler offers newer runners, walkers, and those progressing from a 5K a shorter option to experience the abandoned tunnel environment without completing 13.1 miles.

The 10K requires four repetitions of this segment, and the half marathon uses a 2.18-mile out-and-back course repeated six times. The event has a 3-hour and 30-minute time limit, emphasizing a looped course design over a point-to-point route.
Holiday 5K, 10K, & 13.1M at Biglerville, PA (49)

Participants should locate Pavilion 4 on the left side of the parking lot upon entering the park. The time limit for all participants is 3 hours and 30 minutes.

A 3-hour, 30-minute time limit applies to all distances. Race parking is located at Pavilion C.

Wenn man entspannte Base Miles ohne großen Aufwand sammeln will, fährt man hier die Harrisburg to Carlisle Route.
