Der CASA Superhero 5K and Kids 1 Mile ist ein Familien-Renntag auf dem Percival’s Island Trail in Lynchburg, Virginia. Es gibt einen 5K-Lauf mit Zeitmessung, einen nicht-kompetitiven 5K-Walk und einen 1-Mile-Fun Run für Kinder. Der 5K-Lauf ist für alle ab 8 Jahren und älter und startet zuerst, danach geht der Walk ein paar Minuten später los. Das Kinderrennen ist für Kids bis 12 Jahre und läuft später am Vormittag. Anmelden kannst du dich ab Juli, und es gibt keine Nachmeldung vor Ort am Renntag. Der 5K-Lauf und -Walk sind zusammen auf 550 Teilnehmer begrenzt. Die Strecke führt über den James River Trail. Das Event hat ein Superhelden-Motto: 5K-Läufer und -Walker bekommen ein Shirt oder einen Umhang, eine Swag Bag und eine Finisher-Medaille, während die Kids einen Umhang und eine Medaille bekommen. Beim 5K werden die Top-Drei-Finisher in jeder Alters- und Geschlechtsgruppe ausgezeichnet. Die Kinder-Meile hat keine Zeitmessung und startet in Wellen, ungefähr eine Minute auseinander. Eltern brauchen ein Sicherheitsarmband für das Ein- und Auschecken der Kinder. Bei manchen Wellen dürfen Eltern neben ihren Kindern laufen oder gehen. Es gibt auch eine „Couch Crusader“ 0.0-Mile-Option für Unterstützer, die das Shirt und die Swag Bag haben wollen, ohne die Strecke zu absolvieren.
