Winston-Salem: Meine Lauf- und Radtouren

Winston-Salem veranstaltet 20 10K-Läufe in 2026 innerhalb von 80 km vom Stadtzentrum — bevorstehende Termine, wiederkehrende Serien und andere Läufe in der Nähe, alles an einem Ort.

Am Salem Lake gibt's einen 1-mile Trail und eine 7-mile Schotterrunde. Im Hanes Park haben wir eine Tartanbahn und eine Runde um den Park für Intervalle, lockere Läufe und entspanntes Z2. Der Run Club trifft sich samstags um 8:30 AM beim Sayso Coffee, und dann geht's mit der „erst Kaffee trinken, dann Kilometer fressen“-Truppe durch Downtown Winston-Salem. Der Twin City Track Club sorgt mit Gruppenläufen und den Klassikern hier in der Stadt dafür, dass der Rennkalender immer gut gefüllt ist. Die TCTC Summer Track Series, Ultimate Runner, Beat the Heat 5k, Mistletoe Run und der Frosty 50 sind da die Highlights.

Die Fiddlin Fish Brauerei hier in Downtown bietet uns Radfahrern montags gegen 6pm eine entspannte 10-12 mile No-Drop-Tour an. Die Leute hier finden die super, einladend und einen guten Einstieg in die Radszene der Stadt. Crossroads Cycling und Bespoke Cycling organisieren zusätzliche Gruppenfahrten, wenn du mal mehr Tempo und eine stabilere Gruppe suchst. Das National Cycling Center ist hier in Winston-Salem ansässig und hält den Radsport durch Initiativen wie Pedals for People, den WS Cycling Classic und Sicherheitsarbeit präsent. Rennradfahrer fahren für ihre base miles gerne um Lewisville und durchs Umland. Im Norden geht's Richtung der alten Sauratown Mountains, wenn man mal ein paar Anstiege fahren will, und im Hobby Park gibt's vielleicht auch Mountainbike-Trails für singletrack-Beine.

Winston-Salem hat für Läufer und Radfahrer einen feuchtwarmen, subtropischen Rhythmus, deshalb planen wir unsere besten Wochen um kühle Morgenstunden und feste Routinen. Im Sommer ist die Luft warm und feucht, aber Salem Lake, Muddy Creek Greenway, Reynolda Gardens und die Downtown-Gruppenläufe gehen immer noch, wenn man früh genug startet. Radfahrer halten die Montagstouren bei Fiddlin Fish locker und sparen sich härtere Intervalle für Tage auf, an denen man sich besser fühlt. Der Winter bringt kühleres Wetter, und Läufer konzentrieren sich dann auf die Frosty 50-Saison, Bahntraining und Parkrunden, ohne es zu kompliziert zu machen. Radfahrer halten ihr Z2 am Laufen, nehmen, was der Tag so hergibt, und nutzen die gleichen lokalen Gruppen, wenn der Kalender ruhiger wird.
