Summit Mountain Challenge 2026

The Summit Mountain Challenge is a six-race summer mountain bike series held on the trails of Summit County, Colorado. Racing takes place on Wednesday evenings from May through August. Participants can select from long, short, or kids courses, accommodating serious racers, newer riders, and families alike. The races operate under a USDA Forest Service special use permit within the White River National Forest; consequently, weather and trail conditions may necessitate schedule adjustments. Expect quick dirt sections, challenging mountain climbs, and a concluding event at the Breckenridge Classic. To qualify for overall series standings, racers must complete five of the six races on the same course type. Breckenridge Recreation now manages the series, having acquired it from Jeff Wescott of Maverick Sports Promotions. The event continues to uphold his objective of maintaining local racing as fun, affordable, organized, and community-oriented.
