The Summit Mountain Challenge is a six-race summer mountain bike series held on the trails of Summit County, Colorado. Races take place on Wednesday evenings from May through August. Participants can select from long, short, or kids courses, with the series concluding with the Breckenridge Classic. The terrain features fast trail sections and significant climbs, appealing to those seeking consistent midweek competition over single events.
Breckenridge Recreation now manages the series, having acquired it from Jeff Wescott of Maverick Sports Promotions. To be eligible for overall series contention, riders must compete in five of the six events on the same course type, emphasizing consistency throughout the summer. The races are conducted under a USDA Forest Service special use permit within White River National Forest. Mountain weather or trail conditions may necessitate event delays, cancellations, or relocation.
