About
The Wadjemup Rottnest Running Festival is a community running day on Rottnest Island, Western Australia, organized by the West Australian Marathon Club. Participants can select from multiple distances, including a full marathon, a 5 km fun run, and a 300 m Kids' Quokka Dash. The event is designed for a diverse group, welcoming walkers, families, first-timers, club runners, and marathoners to compete in a distance suitable for their abilities.
The race begins on Colebatch Avenue and concludes near the Dome Cafe by way of Bedford Avenue, offering an island-based event rather than a typical city-road race. Most attendees travel to Rottnest by ferry, with occasional special fares available. Bicycles are the most convenient mode of transport on the island. The festival also supports the Royal Flying Doctor Service, an organization that delivers medical care and emergency assistance throughout remote and rural Western Australia.
