The race starts and finishes at 't Zand, passing several of Bruges' main historic-center sites on a course designed for safety and smooth flow. Thousands participate each year; one recent edition saw 7,500 participants. Music and entertainment are present at 20 points along the route, the city's holiday lights enhance the Christmas atmosphere, and the event also raises funds for charity.
