The Mattoni Running Festival Karlovy Vary centers on a 21.0975 km half marathon held in the Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary, with both the start and finish located in the town center. The event also features the Varyáda 10K Run, a 1.609 km dm family mile, and short dm bambini runs (100m, 150m, and 200m) for children. The half marathon has a 3-hour time limit. Participants can also run the half marathon as a relay, divided into three 5 km legs and one 6.0975 km leg. The 10K race also provides a relay option, ensuring the weekend caters to more than just solo half marathon runners.
Karlovy Vary provides a distinct backdrop for the event; it is a small spa town often associated with film culture and holds the distinction of being the smallest town globally with IAAF Road Race Gold Label status. The festival limits participation to 3,800 runners, making it more intimate than large urban races while still maintaining an international road-race designation. Mattoni is the title sponsor. The race weekend includes a Marathon Music Festival, an after-race party, and family activities in addition to the primary running events. With its current edition count in double digits, the festival has established itself on the Czech road-running schedule.
