The 1. Oberhausener Kleeblatt-Lauf begins and ends within Stadion Niederrhein, the home venue for this new Oberhausen running event. It is scheduled as a Friday race, organized by the RWO Endurance Team and the Stadtsportbund Oberhausen. The main race is a flat 7.8 km run for U18 and older participants. The same distance is also available for walkers, Nordic walkers, and a firefighter charity category. Children have their own races: approximately 400 m for U6 and U8 without timing, and approximately 1.6 km for U10 to U16.
The 7.8 km loop departs the stadium, follows the Rhein-Herne-Kanal, crosses the Slinky Springs to Fame bridge, and passes through the Kaisergarten before returning to the stadium for the finish. The firefighter charity run features a unique element: participants wear protective HuPF trousers and jackets, though running shoes are permitted. One third of each firefighter entry fee benefits Paulinchen e.V., an initiative for children with burn injuries. Additional donations can be made by runners or spectators at the event, including by returning cup deposits. The event has a participant limit of 1,000.
