The Brezel Race is a mass-participation cycling event in Germany’s Stuttgart region, intended for everyday riders, not just professionals. It is part of a road-cycling race day that also features the Women’s Cycling Grand Prix Region Stuttgart, a UCI one-day race for women. Though still new, it has become a significant cycling event in the Stuttgart region, supported by the regional association and the city of Stuttgart.
Riders can select a 110 km long course with approximately 1,050 meters of elevation gain, a 60 km short course with about 500 meters of climbing, or a more leisurely Brezel Race Ride of 20 to 30 km. The race now operates in a new format within one of the Stuttgart region’s districts, following adjustments to public funding that left regional support as the only public subsidy. This arrangement places amateur riders and the women’s professional race on the same cycling weekend, providing the event with both a grassroots and elite dimension.
