The Nord-Marsch Keiler Förde begins at the MFG 5 site in Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, along the Kieler Förde in northern Germany. Participants can choose between two long-distance routes: 38 km and 28 km. The event starts at 8:00 AM, has a 500-person limit, and registration is managed through the organizer’s website, with timing provided by race result.
The Nord-Ostsee-Kanal serves as the local landmark. This 98.26 km waterway connects Brunsbüttel on the Elbe to Kiel-Holtenau at the Kieler Förde. Constructed in the late nineteenth century and later widened, the canal operates via locks at both ends. The surrounding area features ports in Rendsburg and Brunsbüttel, connections like the Eider and Gieselaukanal, and significant structures such as the Brunsbüttel high bridge and the Rendsburg canal tunnel. Nord-Marsch Sportevents UG is the organizer, offering a format for those preferring a long run or walk within the canal-and-förde scenery over a brief urban race.
