Sparkassen-LüneCross is a German cross-country running event held in autumn, featuring short off-road races instead of a road marathon. The primary distances are 4 km and 8 km, with separate races for children and teenagers covering 800 m, 1.3 km, and 2.6 km. It accommodates mixed ability levels, allowing experienced runners, casual participants, families, and young athletes to compete on the same day.
The course utilizes varied terrain, including sandy sections, root-covered paths, meadows, forest tracks, and gravel, differing from a typical city run. The 8 km race offers a relay option for teams of 3 to 6 runners, suitable for groups like families, companies, sports clubs, friends, or neighbours. A school competition awards prizes to schools with the highest participation share, and food and drink are provided post-race.
