The Treburer Crosslauf sends runners over a dam-and-meadow loop in Trebur, South Hesse, rather than along a road course. It is a long-running cross-country race with more than thirty years of history, and local sources describe it as one of Germany’s oldest events of its kind.
The route mixes grass, flood-protection dam sections, tiring climbs, and brief paved stretches. It also hosts the Groß-Gerau athletics district cross-country championships, so the field includes athletes racing for local titles as well as runners drawn to one of the few South Hesse off-road classics that has stayed on the calendar year after year.
