Transpyr Grand Raid MTB is a seven-stage mountain bike race across the Pyrenees, from Roses in Catalonia to Irun on the Atlantic coast. Participants begin by the Mediterranean Sea and head west across 725 km, with 17,350 metres of climbing distributed over the week. It takes place in late spring and is intended for serious mountain bikers, not those seeking a leisurely tour.
The course follows a combination of trails, roads, and mountain tracks, crossing valleys and high terrain. Riders may compete solo or in teams, but all must possess the fitness and bike control to maintain an average of at least 10 km/h per stage. The objective is straightforward: travel coast-to-coast, crossing the Pyrenees from east to west, starting at Roses on the Mediterranean and finishing at Irun near the Atlantic.
