Tour de Tendring | 2026

The Tour de Tendring is a supported cycling challenge based in Dovercourt, near Harwich, taking place in late summer on the Essex coast. Participants can select from a 60-mile sportive, a 20-mile ride, or a 6-mile family route, catering to club cyclists, casual riders, teenagers, and families with children. The event resumed after a four-year hiatus, supported by Tendring District Council and Bike Events, attracting over 300 participants upon its return. The routes commence and conclude in Dovercourt, utilizing Tendring’s quiet roads, gentle hills, countryside, and coastal vistas. The longer routes incorporate local landmarks: St Osyth features a historic Martello Tower, Great Bentley boasts England’s largest village green, Great Oakley has connections to the Domesday Book, and Clacton includes its pier and gardens. Participants receive marshals, mechanical assistance, feed stations, hydration points, medical support, toilets, parking, refreshments, and event T-shirts; helmets are mandatory. The Harwich Skate Jam occurs concurrently, offering an additional local activity alongside the cycling event.
