The Fuji Mountain Race takes place in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture. Runners begin at Fujiyoshida City Hall and ascend Mount Fuji via the Yoshida Trail. Held annually in July, the race presents two straightforward yet challenging options: a summit course covering approximately 21 km with around 3,000 m of elevation gain, and a 5th Station course of about 15 km with roughly 1,480 m of climbing.
The summit race extends from the city to the peak of Mount Fuji. The alternative, shorter race concludes at the 5th Station along the same path. The event categorizes participants into men's and women's age groups, ranging from under 29 to 60 and over, attracting a diverse field of mountain runners. Race logistics include access bus and accommodation packages, a consideration given the route's start in town and finish on Japan's iconic mountain.
