The PSS Imperial Palace Health Running event takes place at Tokyo's Imperial Palace, starting and finishing near the Sakuradamon clock tower. It functions as both a race and a practice session, offering 5 km, 10 km, 20 km, and 20 km relay distances. The event maintains an accessible entry fee of 1,000 yen for solo races, welcomes beginners, and typically attracts 100-499 participants.
The course consists of 5 km laps around the Imperial Palace, allowing participants to view it as a timed workout. PSS Inc. describes it as "Japan's most relaxed race," permitting late arrivals, same-day entries, and distance adjustments. Runners who stop early are not marked as DNFs; their completed distance is recorded. Timing is done manually with stopwatches and printers. All participants receive an award, which may include sports drinks, meal tickets, or magnetic chips.
