TSUMAGOI SKYRUN is a mountain running event in Tsumagoi Village, Gunma Prefecture, with courses set on highland and mountain terrain between about 1,200 and 2,300 meters above sea level. The series has two distinct parts: SKYSNOW in April on snow, and SKYRUN in the mountains in August. It is designed for a wide range of participants, with divisions and courses suitable for elementary school children, adults, and families to join the outdoor racing day.
The SKYRUN portion takes runners into the open mountain country around Tsumagoi, rather than a road-race setting. The organizers view outdoor sport as a means to inspire children and bring hope to mountain communities, aiming for repeat visitors to consider Tsumagoi's peaks as their home mountains. A SKYNINJA season pass is available for participants from elementary school age, covering all 11 races in the former Sanada territory, including events near Shinshu Ueda, Joshu Agatsuma, and Tone.
