ALS het licht uit gaat is a 35-kilometer mountain bike ride held annually near Eindhoven on the third Saturday of October. Participants depart after sunset for a charity tour, not a typical daytime race. Registration must be completed in advance.
The course crosses the Dommeldal and wooded regions north and east of Eindhoven. All proceeds support ALS cure research directed by prof. dr. Leonard van den Berg at UMC Utrecht. Organizers use the event to highlight that while cycling fatigue fades, the muscle deterioration from ALS is permanent. This event is part of a larger cycling weekend that includes a recreational ride and a free Family Ride, which had 273 participants.
