Gabriëlloop Boechout is a running and walking event in Boechout, Antwerp, where school groups aim to complete as many laps as possible within a set time. Most classes have one hour, while primary school groups run or walk for thirty minutes. The event is for recreational runners and walkers; participation and adding laps for the class are more important than speed.
Students recruit sponsors to run or walk for their class, with teams formed during physical education lessons. The winning class achieves the most completed laps relative to its group size, emphasizing collective effort over individual speed. Now in its tenth edition, the Gabriëlloop features food stalls and the temporary cafe Den Engel for participants and spectators before and after the event.
