Hasselt turns orange for the Koningsloop, a local road race in Overijssel held on King's Day. Runners can choose 5 kilometers or 10 kilometers, with both races starting in the town center. It is a compact event rather than a big-city race, and the program also makes room for children through the Bambino run, the Heroes Run, and a Junior category for ages 12 to 15.
The route sends runners past the mill, over the Stenendijk, and through open early kilometers before returning by Zandvoortweg and the city center. The finish area uses local landmarks around the Justitie Bastion and Burgemeester Royerplein, while the 10k simply runs two laps of the same fast course. Trainingsgroep Het Zwartewater organizes the event with help from volunteers, sponsors, and Oranjevereniging Hasselt, so the day pulls in club runners, families, recreational runners, and young children in the same orange crowd.
