The UNICEF Loop Breukelen is a Friday evening charity run held in Breukelen, starting and finishing at the Kerkbrink in the village center. It includes a children's sponsored run, 5 km and 10 km races, and a 5 km walk. This variety caters to children, walkers, club runners, company teams, and adults seeking a fast time. Funds raised support a UNICEF project aimed at making two villages in Madagascar climate-smart.
The course begins at the Kerkbrink and winds through Breukelen's green spaces. Approximately 200 children participate in the sponsored run, with around 1,000 participants in total across all events. Many participants come from Breukelen and the surrounding Stichtse Vecht region, including former residents, making the event a local reunion where people reconnect before and after the run.
