The Invercargill Endurance Challenge is a timed running event in Invercargill, Southland, using repeated laps of the Estuary Loop Walkway. Participants select a 3, 6, 12, or 24 hour challenge, aiming to complete as many laps as possible within their chosen timeframe. The 3 hour race offers a manageable introduction to timed endurance running, while the 24 hour event is designed for those prepared to run continuously through day and night.
The course is a 3.8 km clockwise loop, bringing runners back to the start and finish area for pacing, nutrition, equipment, and support. A final lap is counted only if the runner departs the start/finish area at least one minute prior to their cutoff time. The 3 and 6 hour challenges are open to all ages, with the 12 and 24 hour races restricted to adults. Male and female winners in each time category are determined by total laps and awarded personalised trophies; all finishers receive a medal, and those completing 43 laps earn a 100 mile buckle.
