SwimRun KONO takes place in Iława, Poland, beginning at the Inland Port on Lake Jeziorak. It is a straightforward, demanding format: participants run on trails and swim in open water, transitioning between land and water multiple times without standard triathlon changeovers. This means they swim in their running shoes and run in their wetsuits. The event features a Sprint distance for individual competitors and a Long distance for individuals or teams of two.
The course incorporates Jeziorak, the Masurian forests, and Wielka Żuława island, with a natural path defined by the lake's edge, islands, forest trails, and numerous water crossings. It draws endurance athletes from throughout Poland, including those who enjoy team competition because of the importance of cooperation in the pairs category. A distinct Long-distance category includes members of uniformed services like firefighters, police, and soldiers, under the honorary patronage of the regional State Fire Service commander. Though new, the race's character is established: open-water swimming, trail running, physical exertion, and a dedicated local effort to showcase Iława and engage the community.
