Pirilampos Night Run Bajouca is a 5 km night race in Bajouca, near Leiria, starting and finishing at Campo das Pedras. It is not a standard mass-start road race; runners depart in small seeded groups of five, typically every 20 seconds, with results recorded as a time trial. The event also offers a walking option and children's races, catering to competitive runners, families, and those wishing to run the route after dark.
The course combines streets and rural paths around Bajouca, featuring obstacles and surprise barriers that lend it an adventure-race character rather than a flat 5K. Runners pass local pottery workshops and other area landmarks, establishing a strong local identity for the route. To minimize overtaking, faster runners start first. All participants must carry a flashlight or headlamp and wear reflective gear for safety. The race is organized by the Athletics Department of Grupo Alegre e Unido Bajouca, with timing provided by Recorde Pessoal.
