About this race

Ultra Way of the Pilgrim is a 90K trail race in Fife, Scotland, with registration in North Queensferry and a finish at St Andrews Cathedral. The course uses old pilgrim routes across the region, featuring 1,200 metres of elevation gain and a 15-hour time limit, positioning it as a challenging but runnable long-distance event. It holds UTMB Index 100K category status, and is open to runners aged 20 and over. The route is inspired by Queen Margaret’s historic crossing at Queensferry and directs runners towards St Andrews Cathedral, which was once linked with the Apostle's remains. It passes through Dunfermline, Lochore, Markinch, and Ceres, combining coastal Fife sections with historic towns instead of remote mountain terrain. Finishers get a medal and T-shirt, hot food is available at selected aid stations, GPS tracking is provided, and a shuttle bus returns participants to the start. The event also supports a Fife-based charity, and participant feedback highlights good organisation, a welcoming finish line, and useful food and facilities.
