PENACOVA SWIMRUN

Penacova Swimrun is a swimrun race in central Portugal, located in the municipality of Penacova and along the Mondego River. The main formats are Standard, covering 25.4 km total with 3.2 km of swimming and 22.2 km of running, and Sprint, covering 16.3 km total with 2 km of swimming and 14.3 km of running. Both versions involve multiple transitions between water and land, and include significant elevation gain, making the running sections more challenging than a simple flat riverside course. The route utilizes Penacova’s extensive network of walking paths, forest tracks, and narrow single tracks near the Mondego’s banks and river bend. Participants will pass landmarks such as Reconquinho Beach, the Penedo do Castro viewpoint, the Emídio da Silva lookout, and Livraria do Mondego, a rock formation area by the river. Coimbra's proximity aids in attracting visiting athletes, and the event also features a Swimrun Kids format, allowing younger participants to engage in the sport alongside the main races.
