Rota Al-Buhera is a mountain bike event in Albufeira, Portugal’s Algarve, starting and finishing at Praça dos Pescadores. Participants can choose between a 60 km marathon and a 40 km half marathon. A 25 km leisure ride is also available for those seeking a shorter, less competitive option. The event is organized by the Municipality of Albufeira and the BTT Friends of Albufeira Club, open to physically capable riders.
The routes traverse various areas of Albufeira and its surroundings. The leisure ride illustrates the transition from the coast to the barrocal, the Algarve’s inland limestone terrain. Age group rankings and a podium ceremony conclude the main events. A 70 km GPS-based gravel trophy also departs from the same square that morning, uniting mountain bike and gravel disciplines. Funds from participant lunches are donated to CASA, the Albufeira Homeless Support Center.
