The event is the inaugural Haunted Horsepower race, with the track setting as its primary draw. Instead of typical city streets or park paths, the 5K utilizes pavement designed for motorsports. The race offers chip timing, online results, a shirt, overall awards for the top male and female finishers, and age-group awards for participants aged 12 and under up to 70 and over. A free Kids Dash for children 10 and under precedes the 5K, and packet pickup occurs on race day.

The Howl-O-Ween Hustle 5K, a dog-friendly Halloween run, takes place at Las Colonias in Grand Junction. It features a 5K race and a 1 Mile Fun Run. Both events begin and end at WestCo Brewing. Check-in occurs before the early-afternoon races, followed by an after-party at the brewery. Participants are welcome to bring their dogs and enter a costume contest. The race includes chip timing. Registration provides a t-shirt and a doggie bandana. Adults 21 and older receive a beer ticket. Participants also get 50% off adoption fees at Roice-Hurst Humane Society. The race supports Roice-Hurst, and one past edition raised $3,000 for the shelter. The Grand Junction Sports Commission organizes the event, presented by St. Mary's Regional Hospital.

This race serves as the sole fundraiser for the Bowling Green Running Club's High School Athletics Program, supporting track and cross-country teams with uniforms and equipment. High schools in Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Ohio, Simpson, and Warren counties are eligible to apply for aid, with club officials reviewing applications and distributing funds generated by the race.
