The Colorado Rockies Home Run 5K begins and ends at Coors Field in Denver, offering runners and walkers a baseball-park race instead of a typical road 5K. This event has taken place annually since 1993. It accommodates participants seeking a timed, scored 5K, and families looking for a shorter option, including a free 1K fun run for children and family members. King Soopers and UCHealth sponsor the race, which is closely associated with the Rockies organization, not merely using the ballpark as a setting.
The course’s most notable feature is a lap around the warning track inside Coors Field, allowing participants to run on the same field-level surface usually viewed from the stands. Team mascots attend the event. Registered participants receive tickets to a Rockies game, a commemorative shirt, and a custom finisher medal. Following the run, attendees can enjoy hot dogs, refreshments, music, and access to a beer garden, with beer vouchers provided for those aged 21 and over. The race benefits the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club Foundation, supporting disadvantaged and at-risk youth through baseball and softball programs, education, literacy, and health and wellness initiatives.
