Kick Out Mesothelioma is a 5-mile run and a 2.5-mile walk held annually in Portland, Maine, each November. The run begins at Cutter Street and Eastern Promenade at 10 AM. Walkers start from the Bayside Trail entrance on Sewage Treatment Plant Road. Packet pickup is available at Marathon Sports on Marginal Way, with Pine Tree Race Services managing the timing.
The 5-mile course concludes near Sewage Treatment Plant Road and Marginal Way. The walk starts and finishes at the Bayside Trail entrance. This event commemorates John W. Griffin, a pipefitter, Navy veteran, and City Councilor who passed away from mesothelioma following a brief cancer diagnosis. Proceeds from the race support mesothelioma research, with the day combining a local Portland route and a memorial purpose.
