Les 7 Monts is a trail-running series held in Septmoncel, within the Haut-Jura region, with its central hub located at La Fin du Pré. The event focuses on medium-mountain terrain, utilizing paths and trails with minimal road sections. The main event is the 34 km Trail des 7 Monts, featuring 1,900 m of elevation gain and a midday start. Additionally, the Enjambée covers 15 km with 600 m of climbing, and the Sprint Trail is 9 km with 370 m of ascent. Non-runners can participate in 9 km or 14 km hiking routes, ensuring the day caters to a broader audience.
The 34 km course presents a demanding challenge for experienced trail runners, crossing wild Jura trails with significant ascents. The 15 km race offers a shorter, yet still substantial, mountain challenge. The 9 km route serves as an introduction to trail running or a fast-paced option for competitive runners. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the series, with the schedule adjusted to a Saturday afternoon to commemorate the milestone. Following the races, a couscous evening is available to all participants; this meal is included for those competing in the 34 km event.
