Sobre esta carrera
The Shimada Oigawa Marathon in Liberty is an autumn 42.2 km road marathon held in Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. It is centered on the Oi River running path known as Liberty. The marathon offers runners a flat route, a 7-hour time limit, no mid-race cutoff points, and numerous water and food stations, making it suitable for slower runners and those aiming for a consistent road race.
The course begins on city streets before transitioning to the dedicated Liberty marathon path alongside the Oi River. The event enlists volunteers, provides services exclusively for runners, and awards the full marathon winner an invitation to the Singapore Marathon. The broader race week features running clinics conducted by Shin Fujiwara of the Suzuki Athlete Club, a former London Olympic marathoner. Additional guests like Toshihiko Seko, Takaya Mitsumi, Miki Shimura, and DJ Ketchup contribute to a public festival atmosphere while maintaining the event's core appeal: a flat river marathon with lenient time regulations.
