SEA ALPS TRAIL JOURNEY 2026

The Sea Alps Trail Journey is a 49 km trail race on the north coast of Iwate Prefecture, linking Fudai Village, Tanohata Village, and Iwaizumi Town. It follows the Michinoku Coastal Trail, with approximately 2,098 m of elevation gain and an 11 hour 30 minute time limit. The field is limited to 300 runners and requires participants to be adults who have previously completed a trail race of at least 30 km, targeting those with some mountain-running experience. The route begins at Fudaihama Sonochi Kirami and concludes at Hamanoeki Omoto Aido-kan. Organizers describe it as a journey through forest, sea, and villages, featuring coastal vistas they refer to as the “Alps of the Sea” and segments of single track. Finishers will receive 2 ITRA points. The top six male and female finishers will be awarded prizes. The event includes local elements such as a tenugui hand towel for participants, a raffle, and an awards ceremony at the finish venue.
