Sobre esta carrera
The Frostbite 5k Run/Walk is a 5 km race held in Louisville, Kentucky. It begins near 2949 Scenic Loop at Cherokee Park’s Rugby Field. This event is listed on River City Races’ local calendar, is part of the Run the 502 series, and marks the second race in the Polar Bear Grand Prix. The name reflects the season: participants register for a cold-weather run, not a summer race, and the 5K is the most popular distance in its series.
The course is located within Cherokee Park, with the start near Scenic Loop, giving the race a park run feel with a city-running audience. Participants include walkers, 5K runners, age-group competitors, and teams competing in the Polar Bear Grand Prix Team Challenge. Teams consist of 3 to 5 individuals in male, female, or coed divisions. The fastest three runners on each team are scored, and coed teams must have at least one woman among their scorers. All finishers receive medals, complimentary race photos are available, and awards are presented to overall, masters, and grand masters runners. The race also provides support to the Olmsted Parks Conservancy.
