Run 2.5 miles to celebrate Juneteenth at Glass City Metropark. The event is part of a day of family-friendly Juneteenth activities. A free 1K run is available for children and families of all abilities. Juneteenth marks the 1865 announcement of the Emancipation Proclamation reaching enslaved people in Texas. Opal Lee, known as the "lady in tennis shoes" and "grandmother of Juneteenth," advocated for the holiday by walking 2.5 miles.
