The LCC Leopoldilauf is an annual road race in Vienna’s Wiener Prater. It is held in honor of Saint Leopold III, the patron saint of Vienna and Austria. LCC Wien organizes the event, which offers 7 km, 14 km, and half marathon distances on a flat loop course. One lap covers 7 km, two laps cover 14 km, and three laps cover the half marathon.
Start and finish are on the Prater Hauptallee. About five kilometers of each lap follow this main avenue through the park. Each lap includes a U-turn near the Wiener Riesenrad in the Wurstelprater amusement park. The half marathon’s third lap uses a slightly adjusted turn to achieve the full 21.1 km distance. The course is traffic-free, AIMS-certified, and marked with kilometer signs and blue ground markings. It is set up for fast times. All finishers receive medals, timing is by chip, and runners can use showers afterward at LCC Wien’s premises in the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, Austria’s national stadium.
