The Mt Buffalo climb begins at Eurobin Creek Picnic Ground, ascending 1,345m over 10.5km to the historic Mt Buffalo Chalet. This event is a component of the 4 Peaks Bright Alpine Climb in Victoria’s Bright and Mt Buffalo region, a four-peak alpine running series. Participants may choose to enter this single climb or compete in all four over consecutive days. The race commences at 8am, with same-day registration available at Eurobin Picnic Area starting at 6:30am.
The course follows marked, gazetted trails up Mt Buffalo through alpine terrain, emphasizing sustained climbing over flat-ground speed. The series’ other climbs range from approximately 10.6km to 15km, positioning Mt Buffalo as one of the shorter stages by distance, yet a challenging opener because of its vertical gain. Historically, the race employed a staggered start with the fastest runners departing last; however, the start format was altered as the event expanded and the Mt Buffalo trails proved too narrow for that system. The majority of parking is located at Porepunkah Recreation Reserve, with shuttle buses transporting runners to the start and supporters directed toward the Chalet finish.
