At Katooma Point and the Toowoomba Showgrounds in Glenvale, 40 for Fortey is an annual run held in memory of Police Officer Senior Constable Brett Forte. It has the feel of a respectful community gathering more than a big-city race, with profits going to Queensland Police Legacy and plenty of space for beginners and families to be part of the day.
The course is a flat, accessible loop, the kind where you can settle into a steady rhythm and see the same faces often enough for the encouragement to matter. Solo runners can take it on themselves, or relay teams of 2-10 can share the journey over repeated loops, which makes handovers, team camaraderie, and excellent spectator access a real part of the event. Participants are welcome to run or walk, and the event is pram friendly.
