About this race
The ASICS Gold Coast Marathon begins at Broadwater Parklands in Southport, sending runners on a flat road course along the Gold Coast coastline each July. The marathon and half marathon start early, with 10km, 5km, wheelchair races, a junior dash, and the 63.3km Gold Coast Double offering distances from 2km up to ultra. The marathon course is IAAF-certified, suitable for Boston Marathon qualification, and accessible for first-time marathoners because of its flat, non-technical terrain.
The route runs along Marine Parade and the beachfront, passing surf beaches and the Broadwater with sea air for much of the course. July typically provides mild winter running weather on the Gold Coast, with temperatures between 12-21°C, common sunshine, occasional showers, moderate humidity, and cooling sea breezes. Approximately 60 percent of participants achieve personal bests annually, reflecting the course profile and conditions. The field includes elite athletes in seeded starts, club runners, charity participants, wheelchair athletes, juniors, and visitors aiming for a fast time on the Australian coast.
