About this race
The historic Brisbane Valley Rail Trail forms the basis of this event. This converted railway line runs between Yarraman and Wulkuraka, with Linville, Moore, Toogoolawah, and Esk situated along the rural stretch. The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail 100s is an endurance event, for some a multi-day challenge, conducted on crushed gravel with gentle gradients, not steep mountain terrain. It lives up to the description "true test of endurance" as the trail demands continuous effort.
Underfoot conditions consist of steady rail-trail running: gravel, heritage bridges, rolling farmland, and "charming rural townships" instead of technical singletrack. The format can be out-and-back or point-to-point, allowing for practical crew access at regular intervals. The "well-stocked aid stations" are important as the distances increase. Experienced ultra runners can be seen finding a steady pace, alongside newer trail runners tackling shorter distances, all participating in the quiet rail-trail effort.
