Clarkes Gambit by Graveleur 2026

SUN, August 23, 2026 · Nelligen , Australia

About this race

Clarkes Gambit is a two-day gravel cycling event held near Nelligen on the South Coast of New South Wales. It functions as an overnighter: riders complete one loop north of Nelligen and another loop south of town. Saturday’s courses are timed for those seeking a race element. The short option covers approximately 35 km with under 1,000 m of climbing daily, intended for juniors aged 12 to 17 and riders preferring a relaxed pace. The medium option is about 55 km with roughly 1,200 m of climbing each day. The Saturday long course extends to about 95 km and nearly 2,000 m of climbing before riders transition to a shorter Sunday format. The event is part of Graveleur’s bushranger-themed gravel series, with its name referencing the Clarke gang, bushrangers active in the mid-1860s in the region between Braidwood and Bega. Participants can approach the weekend as a social overnight ride or enter the elite two-day Gravel Stage Race, which has previously featured longer days of approximately 150 km. The weekend provisions include feed zones, mechanical support, event photography, Saturday night entertainment, dinner at a country pub, Sunday breakfast, and a limited-edition commemorative patch.
