From Red Hill Auditorium, the route heads straight into the “spectacular native bushland” of John Forrest National Park, with the Perth Hills doing what they do best: rolling climbs, rough footing, and pockets of shade. Eagle and Child Trail Run feels like a proper day out on dirt, moving through “jarrah and marri forests,” “seasonal wildflowers,” and open breaks with “stunning valley views.”
The courses wind through single-track and fire trails, so you get rhythm in places and then have to switch on for “technical sections with tree roots, rocks, and creek crossings.” Expect elevation gain wherever you line up, with “rewarding panoramic views” over the Swan Coastal Plain when the climbing pays off. Beginners can find a manageable way in, while experienced ultrarunners still get terrain that asks for concentration and agility: a “true trail running experience,” not just a road race with trees nearby.
