About this race
Kardinia Park anchors this inaugural festival, with the Geelong Running Festival centered on sealed roads, familiar streets, and the waterfront instead of a remote out-and-back. Seven years in planning, with Lee Troop's involvement, the offer to runners is straightforward: traffic-free roads, community energy, and a course allowing an early rhythm.
Expect a flat, fast run passing the Cats' home ground before opening to scenic Corio Bay views and the Eastern Beach foreshore. Beginners, first-timers, and intermediate runners will find a suitable place, particularly if they prefer a road course that allows personal bests without being monotonous. The Grassrootz partnership adds a local element, aiming to raise $250,000 for local charities through the running.
