The Glenelg Classic begins at Wigley Reserve in Glenelg North, Adelaide, adjacent to a prominent beach suburb. This late-season event, organized by the South Australian Road Runners Club, offers 5km and 10km run and walk options, alongside a free run for children under 12. The courses are flat, feature electronic timing, and accommodate walkers, creating a relaxed atmosphere. It also appeals to runners aiming for a quick time as the SARRC racing season concludes.
The 5km path circles Patawolonga Creek to the north. The 10km extends along the coastal trail by Adelaide’s beachfront. Sections of the route run alongside the coast towards the Somerton boardwalk, offering participants ocean vistas and sea breezes with minimal elevation gain. Both main race finishers receive medals. The finish area supplies water, sports drink, and fruit. Drink stations and first aid are available along the course.
