About this race
The Kununurra Half Marathon starts at the Kununurra BMX Track on Drovers Road, next to the Rodeo Grounds. It is a flat, off-road loop with red dirt and surrounding bushland. The event offers a stripped-back outback run feel, featuring "scenic bush trails and dirt tracks," the "stunning East Kimberley landscape," and enough rugged Kimberley character to make each lap feel remote.
The course begins and ends at the BMX track, winding through natural bushland on dirt tracks. The focus is on rhythm, heat management, and footing, rather than significant climbs. It is suitable for beginners, solo runners can complete laps, and duo or quad teams can share the distance. The core appeal is an "authentic outback running experience" with dry-season mornings, remote quiet, and the distinctive red dirt and rugged charm of the Kimberley region.
