Lakes Trail Festival
Sunday, July 19, 2026 · Hawks Nest, Australia
About this race
Providence Bay Park, adjacent to Bennetts Beach, serves as the starting point. The course winds towards Myall Lakes, the Myall Coast, and Myall Lakes National Park. The Lakes Trail Festival offers an old-school coastal ultra atmosphere, traversing the Great Lakes region. It utilizes beaches, lake edges, forests, and single track, diverging from the predictability of road races. The event emphasizes self-discovery and the re-creation of a sense of adventure, where navigation is as crucial as timing.
Underfoot conditions vary: fire trails, forest tracks, lakeside boardwalks, walking paths, sand dunes, beaches, rocky headlands, and occasional road sections. The description of being able to "run where people rarely go" is apt, as the route ventures into remote wilderness areas, continuing to showcase the Myall Coast and Myall Lakes National Park. Participants can compete individually, children have a dedicated short run, and the team format includes a unique trail-culture element: relay legs followed by a collective finish.
