Around the Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve, this is proper trail country in the Mount Lofty Ranges, not a polished park loop. The Mount Bold Trail Run / SA Trail Championships works through 5,500 hectares of conservation-significant native vegetation, on traditional Peramangk and Kaurna land, with a championship edge for runners who like a course to bite back.
The route moves through stringybark and manna gum woodlands, over swamps and creeks, then points you into an opening ascent that tests the legs before giving back panoramic views across the dam wall. Expect technical trails, significant elevation, and plenty of time looking where your feet are going, with beginners and kids still having a way into the day. Aid stations come with the excellent quirk of world-famous brownies, which is exactly the kind of trail-race tradition people remember at the finish.
