2025 Rail Trail Ride
Saturday, September 12, 2026 · Scottsdale, Australia
About this race
Pine Creek Gorge forms the core of this event, an out-and-back course on the upper “Canyon” section of the Pine Creek Rail Trail. It follows Pine Creek through the “Grand Canyon of the East,” a National Natural Landmark. The route encourages a steady pace rather than navigating technical terrain. The 2025 Rail Trail Ride offers a classic trail running experience: tranquil forests, imposing rock faces, and space to gauge your endurance and speed.
Underfoot, the path consists of fine crushed stone, wide enough for a relaxed posture. It features a "barely perceptible grade to the south" and is free of motorized vehicles. While beginners will not encounter roots or mud, there are still points of interest: horse-drawn wagons, cyclists, pedestrians, bald eagle nesting areas, and the possibility of spotting deer, foxes, coyotes, or river otters along Pine Creek. Around this period, the "leaves start changing color, putting on a show," providing a pleasant backdrop as the miles accumulate.
