About this race
Camp Reserve serves as the center for a cherished community event in Central Victoria, now in its 18th year, raising funds for Dhelkaya Health. Run the Maine offers the atmosphere of a local race created by runners: trail shoes are beneficial, beginners are accepted, and each course offers a distinct experience rather than a shortened version of the same loop.
The highlight is the point-to-point race starting in Maldon. Participants ride a historic steam train to the start before following the Goldfields route through "dense woodland, open paddocks and fire trails" toward the town. The Walmer Forest loop ascends through bushland, passes two creeks, then provides a quicker finish, while the Botanical Gardens route is nearly level along Gingell Street and through the "magnificent historic botanical gardens."
